Instructor Profile

Born in Sheffield, I started my career as a graduate mechanical engineer in the steel industry. When the steel industry collapsed in Sheffield I re-trained as a computer programmer and moved to the Midlands. That was 20 years ago and over the next 15 years I progressed through several companies to the role of IT Manager in an international computer services business. When that company was taken over, and my position was no longer relevant, I decided to become self employed and moved to the most interesting and fulfilling role of my career - driving instruction. I trained with BSM who helped me achieve the very high standard that a professional driving instructor is tested to. I will always be grateful to BSM for their superb instructor training and early experience, but I soon wanted to be more independent and so I moved to the AA where I am now a franchised AA Driving School Instructor.
I am fully qualified as a Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor (DSA ADI) and registered to deliver Pass Plus training and certification. I am also qualified and certified by the AA to provide instructor training, helping prospective instructors to achieve the very high standards required by the AA Driving School.
I am married with two children (Chris 17 and David 12), I have been a governor at two local schools, and I still enjoy playing the guitar even though the last time I was in a band was in the 1970's!!
As a parent, road safety is of paramount importance to me (several of my relatives have been seriously hurt in road accidents) and I am now doing what I can to help drivers, young and old, to develop a skill which can be useful and fun, but also very dangerous when not done well.
